WHAT IS FAMILY CONSTELLATIONS?

Family Constellations is a therapeutic and experiential approach that explores how we are shaped by the systems we belong to — especially our family and ancestral line.

Developed as a systemic method, it is now practiced worldwide in both group and individual settings.

Rather than looking at challenges only through an individual lens, this work invites a broader view. It acknowledges that many of our struggles are connected to relational dynamics, inherited patterns, and unresolved experiences that live within the wider family system.

Through guided, embodied exploration, hidden relational dynamics can become visible. When what has been carried unconsciously is acknowledged, people often experience a sense of relief and greater freedom in how they move forward.

Trauma, Grief & What We Carry

Sometimes what we carry feels heavier than our own life.

Reactions that seem confusing or out of proportion often have deeper roots.

In many families, there are experiences that were never fully processed — losses, shocks, displacements, secrets. When something remains unintegrated, it does not simply disappear. It continues to echo through the system.

There are moments when an experience overwhelms our capacity to stay present. When that happens, parts of us step back:

We dissociate.
We numb.
We freeze.

These responses help us survive what felt unbearable at the time. However, over time, what once protected us can begin to limit our sense of aliveness.

As Francis Weller reminds us, trauma is not only about what happened — it is also about what was lost.

Trauma often carries with it:

  • A loss of safety and ease in the body
  • A loss of trust in life’s stability
  • A loss of agency and potency
  • A loss of vitality and joy

Over time, this can narrow our experience of aliveness. We may feel estranged from parts of ourselves — as if certain rooms of our inner life have quietly closed.

In this work, we move slowly and with clear boundaries, allowing only what is ready to emerge. What has been unseen can be met with presence.

Movement arises when the system no longer has to hold what was frozen in isolation.

What happens in a GROUP WORKSHOP?

We gather in a circle, creating a welcoming and safe space for the group. The day begins with introductions and time to arrive and settle together.

When someone feels ready to explore an issue, they share their question with the facilitator.

With consent, members of the group may stand as representatives for people or elements connected to the person’s family system. Participation is always voluntary.

The person places the representatives in the space, and we observe what unfolds.

Representatives often notice bodily sensations — warmth, heaviness, emotion, tension, shifts in temperature. As these experiences are shared, underlying dynamics begin to emerge.

The facilitator asks questions and may suggest movements or simple sentences that support clarity and resolution within the system.

People are often surprised by the sense of connection that arises in the group and how one person’s story can resonate with others.

You may choose to bring your own issue, to represent for others, or simply to observe. You are always free to say yes or no.

The work unfolds slowly, with clear boundaries and confidentiality.

What happens in an INDIVIDUAL SESSION?

Individual sessions follow a similar process in a quieter, one-to-one setting.

Instead of group representatives, we use objects such as clay figurines or floor markers to represent elements of your system.

Together we explore the positions and relationships between them, noticing bodily sensations and emotional responses as they arise.

Through this shared attention, underlying dynamics become visible, and we gently explore movements that bring clarity and relief.

What people often experience?

Participants frequently describe:

  • Insight
  • Emotional softening
  • A new perspective
  • A sense of peace or settling

The work does not force resolution. It creates space — allowing what is present to be acknowledged and integrated in its own time.

Often, the process begins before we meet and continues to unfold in its own time afterward.

You do not need to prepare in any special way. Openness and willingness are enough.

If something in this resonates, you are welcome to take the next step in a way that feels right for you — whether in a group setting or a one-to-one session.
